County Board chooses directors for the wellbeing services county and decides on the arrangement of transport and brokering services during the transition period

During the meeting, the county board chose the directors of service areas, corporate services and service provision. During the transition period in 2023, transport services in the area will be arranged according to transferring contracts. As regards Espoo, brokering services will have to be put to tender.

The county board filled the posts of the Western Uusimaa Wellbeing Services County as follows:  

  • Service Area Director for Services for Children, Youth and Families: Mari Ahlström, M.Poli.Sci., eMBA 
  • Service Area Director for Elderly Services: Tuula Suominen, MHS, eMBA 
  • Service Area Director for Services for Disabled People: Timo Hokkanen, M.Sc. 
  • Service Area Director for Health and Social Services: Markus Paananen, MD
  • Director of Corporate Services: Markus Syrjänen, MA, M.Poli.Sci., eMBA, and 
  • Director of Service Provision: Matias Pälve, ML, Ekonomie kandidat. 

 

Finge benefits from employment 

The county board decided to implement tax-exempt fringe benefits worth EUR 300/year for sports, culture, wellbeing and employer-subsidised commuter tickets. Additionally, the county board decided on the implementation of a meal benefit for personnel. 

Arrangament of transport services in accordance with the Services and Assistance for the Disabled Act and the Social Welfare Act 

During the transition period lasting until the end of 2023, transport services will be arranged in accordance with transferring contracts as municipality- or area-specific solutions while ensuring the safety of the services. According to a decision issued by the Market Court, brokering services will have to be put to tender for Espoo. The county board will be provided with regular monitoring data on the functionality of the City of Espoo’s interim solution. 

In the future, transport and brokering services in accordance with the Services and Assistance for the Disabled Act and the Social Welfare Act will be put to tender for the entire Western Uusimaa Wellbeing Services County. The procurement will be carried out taking into account area-specific needs and existing contracts, and its principles will be defined by the county board. The county board will also hear influencing bodies before making its decisions on the matter. The county board will be holding a separate meeting about transport services during autumn 2022.
