Professional support person for persons with disabilities

We support self-reliance, professional independence and participation in society with the help of a professional support person.

The professional support person service usually refers to professional, goal-oriented and temporary support provided to clients aged 18 and over of the Disability Services. The professional support person service is intended for clients of the Disability Services who need support in particular for increasing their self-reliance, becoming independent, enhancing their social skills and participating in society. The professional support person service is not friendship-based like the reward-based support person service. Instead, the work is planned together with the client in accordance with the need determined in the service needs assessment. With the help of the professional support person, the client with a disability practices skills that will help and benefit them in the long term in their everyday life. For example, the professional support person can help to enhance the skills needed in everyday life, enhance social skills, support leisure activities and other activities outside the home, escort the client to these activities, find meaningful things to do and to learn skills for moving independently. The services are implemented in cooperation with the persons close to the client or with persons responsible for the client's care. The achievement of the objectives is monitored on a regular basis.

Conditions for receiving the Service

The service covers the clients of the Disability Services who absolutely need support to particularly increase self-reliance, for becoming independent, strengthening social skills and participating in society and who benefit from working with a professional support person and who are able to commit to the work.

The service is free of charge.
