County elections
Two elections will take place at the same time in Finland in April 2025. Residents of the Western Uusimaa Wellbeing Services County can vote in ten municipalities in both county elections and municipal elections.79 representatives for county councils will be elected for a four-year period in the county elections for the Western Uusimaa Wellbeing Services County. The representatives will decide on the health and social services and rescue services in the Western Uusimaa Wellbeing Services County. When can I vote?

Voting in county and municipal elections
You can vote in both elections at the same time. At the polling station, you will receive two ballot papers, one of them white and the other purple. The purple ballot paper is used to vote in the county election and the white ballot paper in the municipal election.
The candidate numbers consist of four digits in the county elections and of one, two or three digits in the municipal elections. If you would like to vote for the same candidate in both elections, please remember that your candidate has a different number in the county elections and another number in the municipal elections. In the first county elections held in 2022, the turnout in Western Uusimaa was 48.0%, slightly higher than the national average (47.5 %). We are active residents here in Western Uusimaa.
What is the county council?
The county council is the highest decision-making body of the wellbeing services county. The county council is responsible for the operations and finances of the wellbeing services county and exercises the county’s decision-making power with 79 representatives.
Am I entitled to vote?
Everyone who turns 18 no later than the election day and whose municipality of residence is in the wellbeing services county on 21 February 2025 may vote in the county elections. This applies to Finnish, EU, Icelandic and Norwegian citizens and other foreigners who have lived in Finland continuously for two years. Employees of an EU or an international organisation operating in Finland and their family members are also entitled to vote if they have notified that they wish to exercise their right to vote.
A ballot paper notifying you of the right to vote is sent to those entitled to vote. If you have the right to vote and have indicated that you receive official notices electronically, you will receive the notification of the right to vote in the Suomi.fi service. There is a total of 392,210 people with the right to vote in Western Uusimaa.

Polling stations

Advance voting is easy. If you have the right to vote, you can vote in advance at any public advance polling station in your home country or abroad. The general advance polling stations in Finland and abroad are the same for the county and municipal elections.
