National Languages Board
The National Languages Board’s task is, among other things, to investigate and provide statements on how the County Council’s decisions affect the practical realisation of linguistic rights, investigate and define the need, availability and quality of services provided in minority languages and make propositions to the County Board concerning measures for developing the services and service chains for linguistic minorities, as well as to set language requirements and develop the language skills of the personnel. Moreover, according to section 33 of the Act on Organising Healthcare and Social Welfare Services, the Western Uusimaa Wellbeing Services County is responsible for supporting the development of health care and social welfare services in Swedish in the entire country. The County Council has delegated this important task to the National Languages Board in the Administrative Regulations. Detailed regulations specifying the responsibilities of the National Languages Board are laid down in the Act on Wellbeing Services Counties and in the Administrative Regulations, which has been approved by the County Council.
