Committees, Boards and the section for individual matters

The tasks of the committees are theme-based and permeate the activities of the entire wellbeing services county. The committees work with the wellbeing services county as an organisational entity and manage all service-related matters from their specific perspective. Hence, the committees have a central role in evaluating, monitoring and outlining the activities of the wellbeing services county.

The County Board, the County Election Board and the Audit Committee operate under the County Council.

The County Election Board’s task is to approve the nomination of candidates for the county elections and to approve the election results of the county elections. Detailed regulations specifying the responsibilities of the County Election Board are laid down in the Election Act.

The Audit Committee is responsible for several tasks in accordance with the Act on Wellbeing Services Counties. You can read more about these on the Audit Committee's website.

Under the County Board operate

  • The National Languages Board,
  • the Services and Resources Committee,
  • the Future and Development Committee,
  • the Preparedness and Safety Committee and
  • the County Board's Individual Matters Subcommittee.

The inaugural meetings of the Services and Resources Committee, the Future and Development Committee as well as the Preparedness and Safety Committee were held in November 2022, and the work for 2023 commenced during February and March with the tasks and responsibilities outlined by administrative regulations. In spring 2023, decision-making will focus on familiarisation with each committee's area of responsibility and the activities of the wellbeing services county. Decision-making will also focus on the services strategy, the service standard decision and on preparing the budget of 2024.

Further information about the tasks of the committees and the County Board's section for individual matters can be found on the websites for each administrative body.
