Espoonlahti Health Centre renovation and temporary premises – Frequently asked questions

The Matinkatu Health Centre is in Matinkylä at Matinkatu 1.

• The laboratory and imaging services closest to the Matinkatu Health Centre are located at the Iso Omena Service Centre (address Suomenlahdentie 1, 3rd floor).
• The clients of the Espoonlahti Health Centre can request to have their prescriptions renewed either by the Espoonlahti or the Matinkatu Health Centre. The clients of the Kivenlahti Health Centre will have their prescriptions renewed by their own health centre as usual.

The temporary Matinkatu Health Centre is located in Matinkylä at Matinkatu 1. Parking spaces can be found behind the building. Parking is free of charge for clients. The main entrance is at the front of the building. 

During the renovation, there is still a health centre in the Greater Espoonlahti area, in Kivenlahti. If it is difficult for a person to visit the Matinkatu Health Centre, they can use the Kivenlahti Health Centre’s services. In addition, there is a small health centre in Soukka that offers some non-urgent appointments.

The spaces available for the Iso Omena Health Centre are already full.

The building does not have the facilities required for operating a health centre. According to building laws and regulations, premises used for health centre activities must meet certain conditions, for example in terms of soundproofing, ventilation and emergency access roads. If a premise has been designed for other purposes, it is usually not possible to make it suitable for health centre activities for example just by adding partition walls.

The Kivenlahti Health Centre offers both health centre and oral health services. The premises are being used at full capacity and there are no empty spaces available. Considering our current staff resources, we are also not able to extend the opening hours.

In the future, the opening hours will depend on the financial resources allocated for health centre operations. Staff costs are higher during evening hours than during office hours.

The city has made plans to offer more extensive oral health services in Kivenlahti, but final decisions have not yet been made. At the moment, it is also possible to obtain dental care in Kivenlahti with a service voucher. The dental care service voucher is intended for adults who only have a limited need for dental care services.

If the neighbourhood routes currently operating in the Espoonlahti area were extended all the way to Matinkatu, the buses would run at an interval of up to 90 minutes. In this case, the routes would no longer serve the needs of most people.

The metro provides fast and regular connections to Matinkylä from Espoonlahti, Soukka and Kaitaa. The Iso Omena shopping centre is approximately 600 metres from the Matinkatu Health Centre. If you do not wish or are unable to walk this distance, you can, for example, take bus 112 that runs past the health centre at 15-minute intervals.

According to the current plan, the Espoonlahti Health Centre will offer both laboratory and imaging services. Laboratory and X-ray services are provided by the HUS Diagnostic Center.

As a rule, residents should visit their own health centre. You can switch health centres once a year. If a Matinkylä resident chooses the Espoonlahti Health Centre as their health centre, they can visit the temporary Matinkylä Health Centre.

Yes. There are 40 parking spaces behind the building for both staff and clients. Clients may also use the parking area of the Matinkylä icehall, which is located opposite the Matinkatu Health Centre.
