Espoonlahti Health Centre renovation and temporary premises – Frequently asked questions

Information on the renovation and temporary premises of Espoonlahti Health Centre and answers to frequently asked questions.

Background information

The need for extensive renovation in the Espoonlahti health centre building was confirmed in January 2020. After the building suffered water damage in April 2020, a decision was made not to spend money on repairs but to immediately start planning a full renovation of the building. Essential drying work and quick repairs were, however, carried out. A needs assessment was carried out during the second half of 2020, and in December 2020 funding was reserved for the renovation project in Espoo’s investment programme for the coming years.

Oral health and physiotherapy services were able to return to the building in August 2020, but health centre services have been provided at other premises since the water damage. Oral health services operated in Espoonlahti up until autumn 2022. The other services moved out of the building already during 2021.

Renovation of Espoonlahti Health Centre

The renovation of the Espoonlahti Health Centre was approved as part of Espoo's investment programme in December 2020. The renovation will take place in 2023 and 2024. The health centre building was built in 1991, and now its interior will be fully renovated.

The current plan is to start construction in April 2023, with completion scheduled for the autumn of 2024. Thereafter, it is time to furnish the premises and conduct staff training, among other things. The goal is to be able to open the building for clients in the spring of 2025.
