In the social services for families with children in Lohja, Vihti and Karkkila of the Western Uusimaa Wellbeing Services County, many children are in need of a support family. Can your family provide one of these children the opportunity to spend weekends with you?

As a support family, your role is to support a child or adolescent who is deemed to benefit from the time and attention of an adult outside their own family. For the child, you are a safe and reliable adult who listens to them, engages in activities with them and functions as a positive role model.

In Lohja, in addition to support families, we also need volunteer support persons to do fun activities with the children and adolescents, usually once a week for a few hours.

Applying to become a support family or a support person

All adults with a stable life situation can apply to become support families or support persons. The support person or family is paid a fee, and their expenses are reimbursed.

The next course for support family/support person training will begin on Saturday 4 March. The session will be held remotely. The total duration of the training course is 14 hours. The training is organised by the Western Uusimaa Wellbeing Services County. Sign up by 23 February by contacting the representatives below. We are also happy to tell you more about the training and about support relationship activities in general!
