Registration for summer holiday care for children and young people

20.3.2023 5.48

Information for families whose child has been granted holiday care for pupils with intellectual disabilities or severe autism.

The Western Uusimaa Wellbeing Services County provides summer holiday care for pupils with disabilities. The care will be organised in June from the end of school until Midsummer, and again from 31 July until school begins again.

You can register using the attached form for your municipality. Please return the form to the wellbeing services county office of your municipality no later than 31 March 2023. Espoo residents should submit the form electronically in Wilma, if possible.

The decision on the holiday care place will be sent to you by post in May with the condition that the pupil has a valid decision from Disability Services on the right to attend care.

We will inform guardians if we are unable to provide holiday care due to a late application.

You must inform the care place of any permanent changes to the care hours granted for the pupil no later than 3 weeks before the changes.

Holiday care

  • Holiday care is stimulating group activity that ensures that your child receives the care and attention they need. Lunch and a snack are served during holiday care.
  • For further information on holiday care in your municipality, you can contact social work for people with disabilities.
  • Holiday care is typically arranged from Monday to Friday 8.00–16.00. If your child needs a companion (a school employee) during transport, the transport time will be included in the care hours.
  • Pupils who attend school in a municipality outside the wellbeing services county (e.g., Valteri School Ruskis in Helsinki) also primarily receive holiday care in the Western Uusimaa area.

Application forms and return addresses

We are working to consolidate the application procedures, but as for summer 2023, the applications for holiday care are still made with municipality-specific forms.
