Services for families with children in the same building – topping out the Niittykumpu family centre on 19 April 2023
The new Niittykumpu family centre brings together services for families with children in the Western Uusimaa Wellbeing Services County in the Matinkylä, Olari, Tapiola and Espoonlahti regions in one building. In the renovation of the new family centre, particular attention has been paid to the functionality and comfort of the facilities. The family centre’s facilities will open to residents and clients in early autumn 2023.
The facilities of the Niittykumpu family centre are located at Niittyportti 4, at a hub of good public transport connections. A child health clinic, child rehabilitation services, a family health clinic, family social work, a child psychiatric unit and child welfare services will be relocated into the family centre. The family centre brings together services for families with children in one building, and it will also become a workplace for nearly 200 people. Particular attention has been paid to the smooth running of work in the premises by involving the personnel at an early stage in the planning of the renovation of the property.
“Family services are a package. The idea is that all services will be close to good transport connections, making them easy to access. In addition, the client does not need to know our entire service range. Instead, our professionals will offer them a package suitable for the child and the whole family. Working under the same roof enables the networking of our professionals and supports joint multiprofessional work. New, refurbished facilities are designed for a variety of functions and are flexible to suit any needs. The facilities take into account safety, health and accessibility as well as the little and slightly bigger clients,” says Service Area Director Mari Ahlström from the Western Uusimaa Wellbeing Services County.
The family centre and its spacious lobby are located on the second floor of the building. The family centre uses 4,621 m2 of the space and the social facilities on the first floor 47 m2. The renovation began in June 2022. The site is developed by HGR Property Partners Oy, with which a 15-year lease agreement has been concluded. EQ Community Properties is the future owner of the site. Architect firm PES-Arkkitehdit Oy is involved in the planning, and the contractor is NCC.
“The objective of our projects is always the common interest of all parties involved – tenants, city, users of the facilities. residents of the area and the future owner. Niittyportti 4 is an excellent example of this. It is also great to see how the construction of the site has seamlessly created healthy, safe and functional facilities for the family centre,” says Ilkka Mäkelä, Property Development Director of HGR Property Partners Oy.
“Our goal is to produce more functional, healthy and safe facilities in our society. With the launch of the wellbeing services counties, a noteworthy actor has emerged in the market with which these facility issues can be resolved and implemented. As a responsible property owner, we also want to introduce low-carbon energy production to our sites more extensively, for example through geothermal heat and solar energy,” says Investment Director Jennifer Eloheimo from EQ Community Properties.
