Client fees will increase in 2024

13.12.2023 5.45

At its meeting on 12 December 2023, the County Council of the Western Uusimaa Wellbeing Services County confirmed the client fees for healthcare and social welfare as of 1 January 2024. The client fees charged by the wellbeing services county are based on the Act on Client Charges in Healthcare and Social Welfare and the Decree supplementing it.

Statutory index increases include visits to outpatient clinics, short-term institutional care, short-term assessment and rehabilitation periods, and the fees for a doctor’s visit in outpatient care at a health centre. The index increases will also be applied to certificate and statement fees, oral healthcare visit fees and the fees for rehabilitation as institutional care for substance abusers. The index increases amount to around 10 per cent. For example, the client fee for a doctor’s visit in outpatient care will increase from 20.90 euros to 23 euros per visit and the basic fee for dental examination and treatment from 13.30 euros to 14.60 euros per visit.

The changes in client fees are based on changes prepared in the wellbeing services county and the statutory increases in accordance with the national pension index and the earnings-related pension index. Some fees will be subject to change in both ways.

Fee increases in services for the elderly

In services for the elderly, the client fees for regular home care will be raised to the level permitted by legislation.

Home care fees will change in early 2024, when new decisions on client fees will be made according to client service hours. Until decisions are made, the extent of the changes cannot be precisely determined.

The fees for the security service for the elderly will also change and, in future, all clients will pay the same monthly fee for the service, as well as the installation fee and the visit fee for the security assistant.

In short-term 24-hour service housing for the elderly, the daily price of the service will increase. The prices of daytime activities for the elderly will also change. The excess of services supporting mobility will be adjusted to correspond to the changed pricing of public transport in the region. The excess will decrease marginally.
