Espoo service centres receive ‘Vuoden Voimateko’ honourable mention

The honourable mention was granted by Espoo’s Strength in Old Age programme.

Espoo service centres operating under the Western Uusimaa Wellbeing Services County have successfully cooperated to develop and promote activities for Espoo residents over the age of 75 years with reduced functional capacity and living at home in accordance with the principles of the Strength in Old Age programme. Their activities are aimed at increasing physical activity as well as strengthening involvement and communality.

In 2023, the staff of Espoo service centres actively promoted the health and well-being of the elderly, maintained their functional capacity and created meaningful social interaction.

The results of their efforts can be seen in the open and free-of-charge chair workout sessions, 75+ Strength and Balance groups, various gym activities, volunteer training for outdoor companions and Olkkari groups. The activities of all groups have been actively developed.
