Plans for an acute care unit in Raseborg with extensive opening hours
The Western Uusimaa Wellbeing Services County is planning to strengthen primary health care in Raseborg. The aim is to set up an acute care unit with extensive opening hours in the Raseborg area from the beginning of 2025.
The aim of the plan is to improve access to care and reduce the number of visits to the emergency departments of hospitals. The aim is also to consolidate the key ways in which primary health care and specialised medical care work together, and to establish service chains so that patients get care in the right place at the right time. The nearest 24-hour joint emergency service would be located at Lohja Hospital.
Raseborg Hospital's activities to become the responsibility of the wellbeing services county
Western Uusimaa Wellbeing Services County and HUS Group are developing the operations of Raseborg Hospital in close cooperation. The development work is part of the service network plan of Western Uusimaa Wellbeing Services County and HUS. HUS is responsible for organising specialised medical care in Western Uusimaa Wellbeing Services County.
On 12 February, the HUS Joint Board approved a plan to transfer the operations of Raseborg Hospital to the responsibility of Western Uusimaa Wellbeing Services County from 1 January 2025 with regard to emergency care, inpatient care and certain support service functions.
HUS plans to implement changes to the emergency and inpatient wards at Raseborg Hospital before that, starting from 1 September 2024.
In the Western Uusimaa Wellbeing Services County, the changes will be discussed as part of the service network plan.
Future operational changes will be discussed with Raseborg Hospital staff during spring 2024.
The operations of Lohja and Raseborg Home Hospital were already transferred from HUS Group to the wellbeing services county at the beginning of 2024. At the same time, home hospital and mobile hospital (LiiSa) services were extended to cover the whole of the Western Uusimaa area.
