Espoo and Western Uusimaa Wellbeing Services County Receive State Funding to End Long-Term Homelessness

The City of Espoo and our wellbeing services county have received state funding to eradicate long-term homelessness in Espoo. The City of Espoo has been granted €145,000, while the wellbeing services county receives €220,000 for the first phase of the project (1 February 2025 – 30 June 2026). Additional funding will be sought in 2026 for the second phase.
The goal is to eradicate long-term homelessness in Espoo by 2027 and develop a sustainable, collaborative model to prevent homelessness in the future.
Key Project Actions:
- Map local service providers who work with homeless individuals
- Strengthen cooperation among stakeholders to prevent future homelessness
- Focus on homeless young adults (18+) and others reached through outreach programs
- Partner with major landlords to explore housing solutions
The project launches in February 2025 with staff recruitment. Work with clients starts in April.
