Become a Foster Family for an Unaccompanied Minor — Offer Safety and a Brighter Future
We are looking for caring, dedicated adults interested in joining our training program for integration-supporting family care. We are especially in need of families from diverse backgrounds. Perhaps your home can make a greater difference than you ever imagined.
Our service places minors who have arrived in Finland without a guardian with foster families throughout the Uusimaa region (excluding Helsinki).
Family Care Helps with Integration
Integration-supporting family care places children in specially trained foster families, giving them stable relationships and a genuine home environment. These foster families provide everyday care and a secure foundation for each child's growth and development.
While the child learns the skills required in Finnish society, we help them keep their cultural identity and mother tongue alive.
Meaningful Everyday Life and Reliable Support
As a foster parent, you’ll make a meaningful difference by supporting a young person during a crucial period of their life. Your own family will also benefit, gaining valuable insights into diverse cultures, languages, and traditions.
We provide:
- Comprehensive training by professionals to fully prepare your family
- Ongoing guidance and support from skilled professionals
- Financial compensation and expense reimbursements in line with the Family Care Act
Who Can Become a Foster Family?
We welcome warm-hearted adults from diverse backgrounds. Whether you live alone or with family, in the city or countryside, the most important quality is your willingness to offer stability and care to a young person.
As a foster parent, your role involves supporting their education, personal relationships, and daily routines. You need to be able to meet the young person as they are and support them even during challenging times. This requires a stable life situation, flexibility, and a positive outlook. In addition, adults in the household must have sufficient Finnish language skills to participate in our training.
