You can get your seasonal influenza vaccine and COVID-19 booster shot from November onwards. Vaccination sites include health stations and maternity and child health clinics. Book your appointment easily online or by phone.

Seasonal influenza vaccines and COVID-19 booster doses are available to target groups specified by THL from October onwards. Vaccinations begin in October. Vaccination times are available throughout the autumn. You can get both the influenza vaccine and the COVID-19 booster shot during the same appointment if you belong to the target group for both vaccinations. Please note that this appointment is only for vaccinations, and we cannot address other concerns during the appointment.

Elderly nursing home residents receive the seasonal vaccines at the nursing home and home care clients during a home care visit. If you live in a round-the-clock service housing unit in Disability Services, you will receive the vaccine at your unit. School nurses will send Wilma messages to inform parents and students about the specific influenza vaccination dates for each school.

Who will be offered seasonal vaccination?

Seasonal influenza vaccination is offered for free to

  • pregnant individuals,
  • everyone aged 65 or over,
  • children under 7,
  • persons at risk due to illness or treatment,
  • persons starting their compulsory or voluntary military service,
  • persons who live in housing units or stay for long periods in institutional conditions, including prisons and reception centres,
  • social welfare, healthcare and pharmaceutical service personnel, and
  • those with close to individuals highly vulnerable to severe influenza.

If you are not eligible for a free influenza vaccine

If you are not in a risk group or in close contact with someone who is, you can still get vaccinated at your own cost. Many employers also offer influenza vaccinations to their employees. Should you need a prescription for an influenza vaccine, you can request one at the digital clinic in Lunna. If you cannot make the request online, you can ask for the prescription by phone. Leave a callback request for your own health station and select ‘vaccinations’. Once you have received the prescription, book an appointment for the vaccination, purchase the vaccine from the pharmacy and bring it with you to your scheduled vaccination appointment.
