The Western Uusimaa Wellbeing Services County has made it to the top three in the category ‘AI Achievement of the Year’ at the AI Gala 2025.

Our wellbeing services county is the first in Finland to implement real-time AI-powered interpretation on a large scale in social and healthcare services. AI interpretation has already been in use in nearly 1,300 client interactions.

Interpretation through a mobile app enables fast, cost-effective and equal access to services for over 80,000 residents who speak a variety of different languages other than Finnish or Swedish.

The service is in use at maternity and child health clinics, social services supporting integration and services targeted at children and young people. The goal is for AI interpretation to become an established interpretation option for all employees across the wellbeing services county.

“We are truly proud and excited to be among the top three finalists. This is a wonderful recognition of our county’s bold development work, which our social welfare and healthcare professionals have embraced with great motivation,” says Director of Support Services Pasi Ojaniemi.

The winner in the category ‘AI Achievement of the Year’ will be announced at the AI Gala(external link) at Logomo in Turku on 17 November 2025. The AI Gala brings together pioneers in artificial intelligence in Finland. The competition features ten award categories.
