Urgent care clinic opening hours to be extended in Lohja in May
The urgent care clinic at the Lohja Hospital in the Western Uusimaa Wellbeing Services County will move to new a location and extend its opening hours. The changes will be implemented gradually during April–May. The purpose is to enhance access to urgent care for residents and to reduce the strain on the HUS emergency department.
The change will take place in two stages
- 27 April: The urgent care clinic will move to the second floor of the main building at the Lohja Hospital (entrance through door A, take the lift to the second floor)
- 6 May: The opening hours will be extended. Open every day from 8:00 to 20:00 (including weekends and public holidays)
Who can use the urgent care clinic?
The urgent care clinic is a primary healthcare unit providing urgent care at general practitioner level. Patients need prompt assessment and treatment, but their symptoms do not require specialised healthcare.
The urgent care clinic provides care for patients who are able to manage independently. Patients requiring inpatient care or observation will be treated at the HUS emergency department.
Examples of cases managed at urgent care clinics include acute infections (e.g. ear and throat infections) and the assessment and treatment of injuries and accidents.
The Lohja urgent care clinic is primarily intended for residents of Lohja. Residents of Karkkila and Vihti may access urgent care on weekdays between 16:00 and 20:00, and at weekends and on public holidays between 08:00 and 20:00.
Please contact us before coming to the clinic:
- tel. 09 4763 6440, Mon–Fri from 8:00 to 16:00
- tel. 116 117 on weekdays after 16:00, and at weekends and on public holidays
In emergencies, call 112.
In non-urgent cases, patients are treated at their own health station.
HUS emergency services remain open as usual
Patients requiring specialised healthcare and inpatient care are referred from the urgent care clinic to the HUS emergency department in Lohja. The service will continue as usual at the Lohja Hospital round the clock (entrance via door B).
The HUS emergency department treats patients with acute, serious conditions requiring urgent medical care. Between 20:00 and 8:00, the HUS emergency department also provides care for urgent care patients whose treatment cannot be deferred until the following day.
Before visiting the emergency department, call the Medical Helpline at 116 117. In emergencies, call 112. If the situation is urgent, you can also go directly to the emergency department.
The change improves access to care
The urgent care clinic with extended opening hours offers more examination and treatment options than a regular health station. The aim is for residents to receive the help they need smoothly and as close to home as possible.
At the same time, we reduce the need for residents to seek care at HUS emergency departments of specialised healthcare.
The change has been prepared in cooperation with HUS.
