Warning: Scam text messages are circulating in the name of child welfare services

Scam text messages related to child welfare services have been sent in Finland using the names of wellbeing services counties. The messages attempt to obtain recipients' online banking credentials and other personal information by claiming that a child welfare notification has been filed.

If you receive such a message, delete it. Do not open the link in the message or enter any information on the website.

If you have opened the link and entered your online banking credentials or other personal information on the fraudulent website, contact your bank immediately and ask them to block your credentials. You should also report the offence to the police at poliisi.fi/en/report-a-crime(external link).

Authorities will never ask you to provide personal information or online banking credentials via text message or WhatsApp. Western Uusimaa Welfare Services County also never processes client information through regular email.
