The Western Uusimaa Wellbeing Services County to introduce Suomi.fi Messages in stages
The Western Uusimaa Wellbeing Services County will begin introducing Suomi.fi messages during 2026.
Suomi.fi Messages will first be introduced in the wellbeing services county’s case management system in September. The service can then be used, for example, to send responses to objections and requests for administrative review submitted by clients.
The use of Suomi.fi Messages will be expanded towards the end of 2026. The aim is for the wellbeing services county to use the service to send notifications and client letters, followed at a later stage by client invoices. We will provide further information on the implementation schedule separately.
Authorising another person to manage your Suomi.fi Messages
You can authorise another person to manage Suomi.fi Messages on your behalf. You can grant the authorisation at https://www.suomi.fi/e-authorizations(external link). Select the mandate “Management of electronic messages”. This mandate authorises the person to read and send messages and manage your message settings. For example, the authorised person can activate or deactivate Suomi.fi Messages and give consent to receiving official mail electronically.
What is Suomi.fi Messages?
Suomi.fi Messages is a service that allows you to read letters sent by public authorities electronically, either in the Suomi.fi mobile app or online at https://www.suomi.fi/messages(external link). You will gain access to Suomi.fi Messages identify yourself in an online service provided by a public authority, such as MyTax.
When you use strong authentication, an electronic mailbox will be created for you in Suomi.fi Messages. From then on, official mail sent to you by public authorities will be delivered electronically to Suomi.fi Messages. The change applies to adults who use public administration e-services.
The change does not apply to individuals who do not use public administration e-services, minors, those under guardianship or anyone with a valid continuing power of attorney. They will continue to receive official mail in paper form.
