Family work

Family work is one of the services offered by the family centre for families with children. Most of the work takes place in the family’s home, but group-based support is also available.

The service is free of charge and fully confidential. It has clear goals, lasts for a set period and is based on the family's own needs. The need for family work and the right to receive it is assessed together with the family by a social counsellor or a social worker-your family's designated worker. Our goal is to help families cope with difficult situations, discover their strengths and build a smoother everyday life.

In the planning phase, the family, the designated worker and the family worker reflect together on the following important question: "What will have improved in your family by the time family work ends?" Family work is goal-oriented interaction aimed at achieving a clear outcome and, together with the family, solving a problem defined by the family itself. The work always aims to support smoother everyday life and the child's best interests.

Families can receive support with matters such as daily routines, parenting questions and strengthening relationships. With the family's consent, family workers may also collaborate with other important people in the family's network.
