Social and crisis emergency services

We assist with urgent social welfare cases and acute traumatic crises on evenings, nights, weekends, and public holidays.

Emergency Social Services provide urgent, essential assistance for people of all ages when immediate action by social service is required. Examples include:

  • concern about a minor's living conditions or safety
  • domestic and intimate partner violence
  • concern about an older person's ability to manage at home

Anyone can seek help for themselves, a loved one, or a friend. Help can also be requested by a public authority.

Crisis Emergency Services provide immediate crisis support in crisis situations, such as:

  • the sudden death of a loved one
  • violent incidents
  • serious injury or sudden serious illness
  • a fire

Emergency crisis support is typically short-term, and the need for support is always assessed on an individual basis. Social and crisis emergency services maintain 24/7 major-incident preparedness and, in exceptional situations, are responsible for arranging psychosocial support.

Conditions for receiving the Service

Social and crisis emergency services are available to anyone living in or staying in Western Uusimaa who needs urgent, essential social services or immediate crisis support.
