Special support for inclusion

Special support for inclusion helps individuals with disabilities to engage in social interaction and leisure activities. This support is designed for individuals who are unable to express their wishes independently-or even with assistance-or for whom personal assistance is not a suitable service.

Inclusion refers to:

  • The right to be an active participant in one's own life
  • The ability to make one's own decisions and build social relationships
  • The opportunity to have an influence within the community

Special support for inclusion helps individuals with disabilities take part in and discover leisure activities they enjoy. It includes:

  • Guidance in social interactions
  • Assistance in finding and engaging in leisure activities
  • Intensive guidance provided by an additional person.

Together with a support worker, an individual with disabilites can explore and try out meaningful activities. The worker may also help foster and deepen interpersonal relationships by clarifying the person's wishes and suggesting suitable activities.

Special support for inclusion is typically provided outside the home. However, it may also be offered at home if it aligns with the individual's preferences or best interests. Home-based support might include activities such as communicating via technical devices, engaging in art or physical exercise, or cooking and baking.
