Guardianship
A guardian is a person appointed to manage another person’s financial affairs if that person is unable to do so themselves, for example due to illness or disability.
A guardian is not the same as an authorised representative under a power of attorney. Guardians may be private individuals appointed to the role or public guardians. You can act as someone’s guardian only if their affairs cannot be managed through other, less formal alternatives.
