or someone else you have encountered? Contact your municipality’s social services and we will assess what kind of help we can offer.
Anyone who is concerned about another person’s life situation can submit a notification of concern.
When name information is not included in the notification, the matter is processed anonymously.
Representatives of several professional groups are obliged to notify social welfare if they come across a person with an evident need for social welfare in their work.
- The parties subject to this contacting obligation include healthcare professionals, social welfare officers and persons employed by social services, educational services, sports services, early childhood education and care, rescue services, the Emergency Response Centre Agency, the Customs, the Police, the Criminal Sanctions Agency, the employment and economic development authority, the Social Insurance Institution of Finland or the enforcement authority.
- If the person is evidently unable to take responsibility for their own care, health or safety, or if necessitated by the best interests of the child, you must submit a notification without delay even if you do not obtain the consent of the person. Secrecy provisions do not prevent the notifying.
