Service conselling for immigrants

The city provides guidance and counseling services for immigrants. The aim is to promote the integration of new residents into the city and enhance their opportunities for active participation in society.

The Service Advisor for Immigrants collaborates with social services, early childhood education, schools, youth services, the library, healthcare services, as well as the church and various associations. Additionally, the Employment and Economic Development Office, Social Insurance Institution of Finland (Kela), the Immigration Service, and the Medivida Reception Center are key partners for cooperation.

The Service Advisor for Immigrants assists in the initial steps of integration, including:

* Guidance in everyday life matters: housing, residence permits, social security, work, and education
* Support and advice for parenthood concerning daycare, school, and recreational matters
* Counseling on official matters related to authorities (e.g., Employment Office, Kela, Immigration Service)
* Directing to health services
* Promoting interactions between immigrants and local residents
The goal is also to develop immigrant services, enhance collaboration among various stakeholders, and primarily deepen and broaden mutual understanding in immigration-related matters.
The city has appointed a Service Advisor for Immigrants, who you can contact regarding immigration matters.

Additionally, Uusikaupunki is involved in the Development Project for Immigration Guidance and Counseling Services (MOPPI). The project is aimed at immigrants and new residents of the city. The project coordinator operates from the Ukipolis premises.
