Need for statements in Disability Services
Did you know that you do not need a medical certificate to apply for disability services? In some situations, healthcare staff may recommend the service, but your service needs will be assessed in the Disability Services unit. If a statement from a healthcare professional is required, Disability Services staff will direct you to obtain one.
In general, the application should be accompanied by the latest healthcare professional’s record or opinion explaining your illness or disability. In addition to doctors, healthcare professionals include occupational therapists and physiotherapists, who can also assess your functional ability. If you do not have a copy of these records or statements, you can see them all in the Kanta service. From there, you can print documents to attach to your application, if necessary.
This will make your application process easier, when you do not need to visit the doctor for the documents.
