Lunna has accelerated the wellbeing services county’s digital leap – the range of services is expanding

The digital services platform Lunna has been received well by the residents of the Western Uusimaa Wellbeing Services County. One fifth of all social welfare and health care service contacts are already digital. Lunna will be further extended to cover mental health, substance abuse and disability services on 25 September.
The Western Uusimaa Wellbeing Services County introduced the Lunna digital services platform in April 2025. Clients can contact health centres, maternity and child health clinics and dental care using a chat or by sending a non-urgent message.
Before Lunna, digital contacts accounted for a few per cent of all contacts in the Western Uusimaa Wellbeing Services County. Six months after the introduction of Lunna, their share is approximately 20 per cent. In child health clinics, the share of the digital service platform has increased from less than four per cent to over 65 per cent. At the same time, the number of incoming calls has decreased significantly.
“This has been a great success for us. Our goal is to boldly reform services, and it seems like we are on the right track. Of course, this is only the beginning; there is still plenty of work to be done,” says Sanna Svahn, Wellbeing Services County Director.
Mental health, substance abuse and disability services to be added in Lunna
The range of services available in Lunna will expand on 25 September, making it even easier to use services in different life situations.
In the future, you can also use mental health, substance abuse and disability services through Lunna. The client can send a non-urgent message that a professional will respond to within three working days. Non-urgent messages enable contacting services with a low threshold.
“The everyday life of our client is often stressful, which is why using services must be as easy as possible. They can send a non-urgent message at any time of the day when it best suits them. This is an important step toward even more accessible services,” says Anu Mustakari-Ilovuori, Director of Joint Social and Health Services in the Western Uusimaa Wellbeing Services County.
You can send non-urgent messages to the following services from September onward:
- Disability services – message advice, also introducing an attachment mailbox for secure document submissions
- School social workers of student welfare – message a school social worker at your educational institution
- Mental health and substance abuse services – message a professional
- Rehabilitation – message a physical therapist
A non-urgent message allows you to contact the service of your choice without calling or physically visiting the location. Your message is sent directly to the right professional who will respond within a maximum of three working days.
The Lunna chat is available for health stations, maternity and child health clinics, dental services, Senior Info and general customer service. You can get a response in minutes in the chat, and it is also suitable for dealing with urgent matters, such as new symptoms. The chat is open on weekdays from 8:00 to 16:00.
