12.3.2026 8.18

Western Uusimaa Wellbeing Services County will introduce self-booking in Lunna on 12 March 2026. The service will be introduced in phases during the spring. The schedule is dependent on the implementation of the shared client and patient information system. Self-booking will first become available to residents of Espoo and Kauniainen.

During the first phase, self-booking in Lunna will be available in the browser version of Lunna at lunna.fi. for a limited range of services. Appointment booking via the Lunna app will be introduced at a later stage. From March onwards, clients will be able to book appointments for:

  • first appointment at a maternity and child health clinic appointments (remote appointments, at 8–10 weeks of pregnancy)
  • first physiotherapy and adult occupational therapy appointments
  • school and student healthcare appointments, such as visits to a public health nurse or pre-call-up examinations.

The range of appointments available for self-booking will be expanded gradually at a later stage.

“Self-booking is already being used successfully in many services across our wellbeing services county, and we now want to make access to services clearer by bringing appointment booking into Lunna. Our goal is that, in future, all self-booking will take place in one place: Lunna,” says Nelli Myllylä, Director of Development at Western Uusimaa Wellbeing Services County.

“Self-booking is essential to a modern healthcare and social service system and an important part of the customer experience. When clients can choose a suitable appointment time themselves, cancellations also decrease. In addition, professionals currently spend time managing appointments even in services where clients could just as well book their own appointments. Next year, we will focus particularly on this so that an even greater share of professionals’ working time can be spent on seeing and treating clients.”

Self-booking will be expanded across the region during the spring

Self-booking in Lunna for the services listed above will be introduced in Western Uusimaa according to the following schedule:

  • 12 March 2026 Espoo and Kauniainen
  • 23 April 2026 Ingå, Karkkila, Kirkkonummi, Lohja, Raseborg, Siuntio, and Vihti
  • 21 May 2026 Hanko

For the time being, self-booking is also used through other digital service platforms. Most self-booked appointments—for example, dental appointments or vaccinations at health stations—are made through a separate online portal at luvn.terveytesi.fi. *

“I understand that, during this transition phase, the overall picture may feel a little confusing, but the end result will be a single shared digital service platform,” Myllylä sums up.
