Book a free health examination as soon as you become unemployed
If you are unemployed and not covered by occupational healthcare or student healthcare, you can book a free health examination yourself. The examination helps support your health, wellbeing and ability to work throughout your unemployment.
Health examinations for unemployed people are readily available in the Western Uusimaa Wellbeing Services County. The examinations are carried out by a dedicated team, and you can book either an in-person or a remote appointment yourself.
The health examination is intended for unemployed people of working age who are not covered by occupational healthcare or student healthcare. You can have the examination as soon as you become unemployed. If you remain unemployed, it is advisable to have an examination approximately once a year.
The health examination supports your ability to work and your wellbeing
During the health examination, you will discuss your health, wellbeing and current situation, as well as any factors that may affect your ability to work. The need for further examinations, treatment or rehabilitation will also be assessed. If necessary, we will refer you to appropriate services.
The examination also looks at your mood, how you are coping, your lifestyle and your wellbeing in everyday life. The aim is to identify any challenges early and support your wellbeing before they become more serious.
The health examination is not an appointment for treating an illness and does not include laboratory tests or X-ray examinations.
“The health examination is a preventive appointment at which we assess the jobseeker’s overall situation and, if necessary, refer them for further care. The aim is to provide comprehensive support tailored to the jobseeker’s situation,” says Service Supervisor Thijs Verbrugghe.

You can easily book an appointment for a health examination yourself:
- through the appointment booking in Lunna, or
- by calling the customer service on 029 151 2000, Monday to Friday from 8:00 to 16:00.
You can choose to have the examination either in person or remotely.
The health examination is voluntary and free of charge
The health examination for unemployed people is voluntary and free of charge. Even if you feel healthy, you may still benefit from the examination. It gives you an opportunity to discuss your wellbeing and receive support for maintaining your ability to work and get advice on health-related matters that may affect your job search.
