Health examinations for the unemployed people

We assess your overall health and identify your rehabilitation needs as well as your general ability to work and function.

During the health examination, we assess and support your health and wellbeing and determine whether your ability to work and function needs to be assessed and whether you may have rehabilitation needs.

You can book an appointment for a health examination in Lunna or by calling the customer service centre. It is a good idea to have the examination soon after becoming unemployed. If you remain unemployed, we recommend having a health examination approximately once a year. Employment services, social welfare services or health care services may also refer you for a health examination, but only with your consent.

The health examination is conducted by a public health nurse or a registered nurse, either in person or remotely. During the examination, you will discuss your physical and mental health, functional capacity, lifestyle and any symptoms you may have. Particular attention is paid to factors that may affect your ability to manage everyday life and your ability to work. The nurse will provide guidance on matters such as nutrition, physical activity and self-care. If necessary, you will be referred for further care, rehabilitation or other appropriate services. The health examination does not include the treatment of illnesses, laboratory tests or X-ray examinations, urgent medical care, dental examinations or the statutory pre-employment health examination. Its primary purpose is prevention, assessment and guidance.

You can book an in-person or a remote appointment yourself.
