Dangerous counterfeit Subutex tablets in circulation

5.10.2026 11.29

Counterfeit Subutex tablets containing life-threatening substances have been detected in Finland. According to the authorities, even a single tablet can cause a serious overdose.

The counterfeit tablets look like genuine medicines. Do not take any tablets or other medicines if you are unsure where they come from.

The counterfeit tablets have markings onboth sides:

  • B8 on the front
  • a sword or cross on the back.

If you or someone close to you uses opioids, talk to a professional about the risk of overdose.

Go to an emergency department immediately if you or someone close to you develops symptoms of an overdose, such as extreme tiredness, difficulty breathing or a reduced level of consciousness.

In case of emergency, always call 112.
