Training and coaching for informal carers
As an informal carer, you are facing many new things. The Western Uusimaa Wellbeing Services County organises training and coaching for informal carers on various themes related to informal care. The information event for new informal carers gives you basic information on support for older people’s informal care and the practices of the Western Uusimaa Wellbeing Services County. The event is also suitable for anyone who is considering applying for support for informal care.

The coaching on assistive devices and assisting is intended for informal carers in the Western Uusimaa Wellbeing Services County who assist a loved one who is an older person. In the coaching, you will receive:
- information on various aids that make everyday life easier and how to get them, and
- practical guidance on the basics of ergonomic assistance if your care recipient has mobility challenges.

In this training, you will get practical guidance on encountering a person with a memory disorder and supporting their active everyday life and functional capacity.
For the duration of this training, your care recipient can participate in group activities organised by volunteers at Uudenmaan Muistiluotsi while you are participating in the training. The group activities are organised on the same floor near the training facilities. Please make sure that your loved one will manage in a group with light assistance during your training. When signing up, you can give the volunteers more information about your loved one’s situation.

Informal carers’ digital training is intended for contractual informal carers in the Western Uusimaa Wellbeing Services County. During the training, you will become familiar with digital services (such as Oima and Lunna) that can make everyday life easier for informal carers and support caring for a loved one. You will receive practical tips on using the services, as well as guidance and advice tailored to your own situation.

Digital services supporting informal care
Several digital services make everyday life easier for informal carers by enabling access to services regardless of time or place. For informal carers, key services include Oima, which is used to manage informal care agreements and payments, as well as Lunna, which allows you to contact social and health care services via chat or by sending a non‑urgent message.
This section describes the digital services that are most relevant from the perspective of informal care. You can find all digital services of the wellbeing services county and information about digital support at luvn.fi/en/digital-support
Oima
Oima is a service that allows you to handle practical matters related to informal care easily online. In Oima, you can report completed care days, check the details of your informal care agreement and manage notifications related to payments without paper forms. Oima supports your daily life by bringing all key informal care matters together in one place.
Lunna
Lunna is a digital service channel through which you can contact the wellbeing services county’s services. In Lunna, you can also act on behalf of a close relative if you have Suomi.fi authorisations for both social and health care matters, or if you are the guardian of a person under 18 years of age.
You can use Lunna via a mobile app or in a web browser at lunna.fi.
Citizen's online health services (luvn.terveytesi.fi)
The Citizen's online health services is a customer portal where you can complete pre‑information forms and questionnaires, make appointments and send messages. The service requires strong authentication. In the Citizen’s Health Service, you can handle the following matters:
- dental care appointments if you have a valid care plan
- health centre appointments, for example for removal of stitches or vaccinations
- ordering self‑care supplies
Parasta palvelua
In the Parasta palvelua service, you can view the service vouchers granted to you and their current balances. You can see which services have been used and how much purchasing power remains. The service supports everyday life by gathering all service voucher information in one place.

If you have authorisation to act on behalf of another person, you can also view the service vouchers granted to your close relative and their usage in the Parasta palvelua service.
Medication safety lecture for informal carers is intended for informal carers in the Western Uusimaa Wellbeing Services County who are responsible for their loved one’s medication. During the lecture, you will receive information on the correct storage and handling of medicines, guidance on taking drug interactions into account, as well as practical tips for everyday situations and for identifying risks. You will also have the opportunity to ask questions of an expert and receive support with challenges related to medication management.
