I am pregnant – what should I do?
After taking a positive pregnancy test, book your first appointment at the maternity clinic. You can contact the maternity clinic even if you are not yet sure if you want to continue the pregnancy. The first prenatal appointment is mainly carried out as a remote appointment.
If the pregnancy is not desired, contact directly the unit that performs terminations (more information at HUS website(external link)).
When booking an appointment, we will ask you for the start date of your last menstrual period, information about any previous pregnancies and births, as well as any chronic illnesses and medications.
For the initial visit, fill out the maternity clinic's pre-information form and the substance abuse screening form. During the initial visit, we will also check your ID.
Ultrasound and fetal screening tests related to your pregnancy are performed at HUS facilities, and to book these appointments, you need to log into the Maisa system (external link). You can log into Maisa and familiarize yourself with the system even before your initial visit.
