Health centres and appointment services

We treat and study both sudden and long-term illnesses. We support health and well-being, prepare certificates and statements as well as direct our clients to specialised medical treatment, if needed.

Basic-level appointment services refer to physicians' and nurses' appointments in social and health centres, well-being centres and health care centres as well as other specialist groups' services and appointments. Basic-level appointment services treat and examine illnesses, issue health-related certificates and statements as well as support promoting health and preventing illnesses. Appointments are available remotely and in person. Remote appointments can be held by telephone or on video, for example. Appointment services must be available during working hours either by telephone or by coming to the appointment. Call requests are answered promptly, often within the same day. When contacting the clinic, the nurse or physician will make an assessment of your need for treatment, which specifies its urgency and need. The need for treatment may be initially assessed by telephone, but at the latest within three working days of the phone call. The necessary treatment must be provided within a reasonable time, as defined by current legislation. In urgent cases, treatment must be arranged without delay. Urgent treatment refers to the immediate assessment and treatment necessitated by a sudden illness, injury, aggravation of a long-term illness or decreased ability to function, which cannot be postponed without aggravating the illness or injury.

Current issues at the health centres:

  • Raasepori (6.3.2023): Raasepori health centre switched to using the patient information register of the Western Uusimaa Wellbeing Services County on Wednesday 1 March 2023. Due to the change, our call-back services are overloaded. We apologise for the situation and are working as hard as we can to make the services run smoothly again.
  • Kirkkonummi (24.2.2023): The Kirkkonummi Wellbeing Centre has had major challenges affecting the doctors’ and nurses’ services. For example, booking appointments by phone has not been possible in the usual way. Our call-back services are overloaded, and the waiting time for non-urgent matters can be up to two weeks. We are working even on evenings and weekends in order to clear the backlog of calls. Because of personnel turnover, making new appointments has been delayed. The situation is made worse by infectious diseases, as they increase the load on urgent care units while simultaneously forcing a part of our personnel to be absent. We apologise for the situation and are working as hard as we can to make the services run smoothly again.

If you want to provide us feedback, you can do that in the Western Uusimaa Wellbeing Services County’s feedback service.
