Changing your health station
You can select your health centre anywhere in continental Finland.
Your health station is typically determined by your home address. However, if you wish to switch to a different health station, please follow the instructions below. Whenever you move to a new address, your health station will change according to your new home address. If you already have chosen another health station than the one established according to your home address, your selection remains valid even after moving to your new home.
Changing your health station
You are free to choose any station within mainland Finland. To make this change, please inform us of your new choice either digitally or by mailing a filled-out paper form to the customer service of Western Uusimaa Wellbeing Services County. We aim to process all applications within three weeks of receiving them. Please be aware that once you have changed your health station, you must wait a minimum of one year before making another change.
It’s important to note that children do not automatically switch health stations with their parents. A separate notification is necessary for each family member. Notifications for underage children must carry the signatures of both guardians. It’s also possible for different family members to be registered at separate health stations.
Important: Upon changing your health station, all the following services will be relocated to your new station:
- outpatient care appointments, including doctors’ and nurses’ appointments, certificates, and screenings
- oral health care services
- maternity and child health clinic services
- care equipment services
- mental health and substance abuse services
- counselling, planning, and therapy services for rehabilitation
- assistive equipment services
- short-term institutional care
Please note that school and student health services, home care services, and long-term institutional care will continue to be determined by your residential address. Similarly, social services will remain tied to your municipality of residence, irrespective of your health station change.

Temporary use of a different health station
If you reside or regularly stay elsewhere than where your primary health centre is located, you may temporarily use the services of another health centre for the treatment of chronic illnesses in accordance with your care plan. Your primary health centre will not change.
Please bring your care plan with you to the temporary health centre. You can obtain the care plan from your primary health centre.
If you choose to temporarily switch health centres, please notify both the primary and temporary health centres by filling in the form included. You can begin to use the services of the temporary health centre three weeks after delivering the form to both health centres.
