Assistive device services

We lend assistive equipment so that you can improve your functional ability and the ability to cope with daily living. Lending is either for short-term or long-term use and it’s based on individual needs. You can borrow and return assistive equipment in the municipality where your health centre is located.

We lend assistive devices based on individual needs for short-term or long-term. You borrow and return assistive devices in the municipality where your health station is located.

The assistive devices are either jointly used or individually manufactured for you. You can purchase individually manufactured assistive devices as an outsourced service from different service providers.

Regular everyday aids, such as a walker, shower chair or raised toilet seat, are available for borrowing at the assistive device lending services. You can also use the assistive device lending services on behalf of a loved one. You always need an appointment for borrowing assistive devices whose need is assessed individually. Assistive devices requiring an appointment include personal lifts, beds or active wheelchairs.

If necessary, we can refer you to a functional capacity assessment carried out by healthcare professionals to assess your needs for assistive devices.

Assistive device services are responsible for the maintenance and repair of assistive devices. Assistive device users are responsible for ensuring the daily operating condition of the assistive device, such as cleanliness, tyre pressure, and proper use and storage. In case of problems, contact the assistive device services in your area.

You must return the assistive device as soon as the user no longer needs it or when your situation and functional capacity have changed significantly so that you no longer have the right to use the assistive device. The assistive device must also be returned when it is unfit for use.

The assistive device user may be obliged to compensate for the costs incurred from negligent or inconsistent use or storage of the assistive device. The compensation obligation also arises if the assistive device is not returned.

When moving away from your municipality or changing to a health station located in another municipality, contact the assistive device lending service. Assistive device services are free of charge for the client.
