Developing accessibility in our wellbeing services county
Our wellbeing services county is continuously developing its services to make them as accessible and barrier-free as possible for all service users. To us, accessibility means that everyone can use our services on equal terms – regardless of functional capacity, sensory limitations, language skills or digital skills.
Our work is guided by national recommendations and the EU Accessibility Directive, but above all, we develop services together with service users based on their needs.
What does accessibility mean in practice?
Accessibility is reflected in everyday life in many ways. This means, for example:
- clear and easy-to-understand service pathways
- user-friendly digital services
- accessible website and communications
- physically accessible facilities
- the option to access services in different ways (e.g. in person, by phone, online)
- support and guidance in using the services.
Our goal is to ensure smooth and safe services for everyone.
This is how we develop accessibility
Our development work is based on continuous evaluation and collaboration:
We listen to our service users
We collect feedback and experiences from different service user groups. This way we identify where services need to be improved.
We improve services together
We work in partnership with, for example, experts by experience, organisations and professionals in different fields.
We improve the accessibility of digital services
We ensure that our website and digital services meet accessibility requirements and are easy to use.
We train our staff
We help our staff build skills in accessibility and accessible customer service.
We monitor and evaluate our services
We regularly evaluate how well accessibility is working and what we can still improve.
Service users first
The key perspective in developing accessibility is the service user. We want to ensure that:
- services are easy to find
- information is understandable
- services can be used without unnecessary obstacles
- everyone feels seen and heard.
