Service voucher improves access to dental care
Our updated dental care service voucher helps you get treatment when you need more than one dental appointment. The voucher can now be used at approved private clinics across the wellbeing services county.
We have introduced an oral healthcare service voucher to help residents access care more smoothly than before. The voucher is intended for adults who require treatment over multiple visits and whose care can be provided by a private service provider. Our goal is to improve the availability of services and give residents more choice in how and where they receive care.
Eligibility is always based on a professional assessment of care needs, and the assessment is carried out by our oral healthcare customer service.
A strong service network supports access to care
The service voucher can be used with several providers across our wellbeing services county. The service network is comprehensive, making it easier to get an appointment and allowing residents to choose a location and time that suits them.
Hanna-Mari Kommonen, head of service unit at the customer service centre of oral healthcare services, says the voucher has been welcomed with enthusiasm by customer service staff.
“It is wonderful that we now have the opportunity to offer residents even smoother access to care. It has been a pleasure to tell them about the service voucher and guide them in how to use it. People value the possibility to select their service provider and access care more quickly than before.”
The service got off to a good start
The service voucher has been carefully prepared, with residents’ wishes also taken into account, such as clear instructions and the possibility to select a service provider.
Sanna Mekkonen, head of service unit in oral healthcare services, says the service got off to a good start.
“To date, we have granted approximately one hundred service vouchers, even though we have not yet communicated widely about this option. We wanted to proceed in a controlled manner and ensure that the service works well for the patients at every stage, all the way through.
Service providers have already begun offering the service.
“We have worked closely with the service providers, and the service has got off to a good start from the perspective of both patients and professionals,” Mekkonen says.
Who the service voucher is for
The service voucher can be offered to adults who have a need for non-urgent comprehensive care.
During the assessment, we ensure that the service voucher is appropriate for the patient’s situation and that the treatment can be delivered by a private service provider.
Using the service voucher usually allows quicker access to care than the wellbeing services county’s own dental clinics. When you use the service voucher, the first visit costs more than at the wellbeing services county’s own dental clinic, but after that, the prices of follow-up visits are the same as in the wellbeing services county’s own dental care. This allows us to support the delivery of our patients’ treatment and provide a flexible and often quicker alternative when the treatment is likely to require several visits.
