The Oima service makes daily life smoother and work more efficient

We have launched an online service that enables smooth cooperation between professionals and compensation earners, such as informal caregivers. In Oima service, the details of the compensation earners are up to date and the compensations can be issued faster. Users have praised the service for its user-friendliness.

The deployment of the Oima service in the spring of 2024 brought with it benefits to the wellbeing services county’s roughly 3,700 wage recipients, such as informal carers, substitute informal carers and support families as well as the professionals who handle their matters.

Instead of requiring manual paperwork as before, the Oima service collects the necessary information into one place in real time. For example, informal carers can report the days off they use and substitute informal carers can report their days of work. The professionals of the wellbeing services county, in turn, can view the information of the carers in the system and check them to ensure smooth wage payments.

Professionals of the wellbeing services county were involved in the testing of the Oima service. Their opinions were heard, and the requested corrections and changes were made in the process. This developed the service to meet our needs precisely.

Praise from both professionals and customers

Child Welfare Social Instructor Minna Kupari has experience of the Oima service as a professional and substitute informal carer.

– The introduction of the Oima service was a real godsend at work and at home! The massive amounts of paperwork and misplaced mail are now things of the past. What we now have instead is an easy-to-use system, which ensures smooth work and organised information, Kupari says, praising the service. There is now more time for customer work, and private time was also freed up for more pleasant tasks.

With the implementation of Oima, Minna can save time for more important and enjoyable tasks, both at work and as a substitute family caregiver at home.

Customers gained access to the Oima service after training courses organised online. Video recordings and materials of the training courses remain available on our website for new users. Based on feedback from the Hiiden Omaishoitajat ry informal carers’ association, informal carers have welcomed the Oima service with open arms. Many have taken part in the spring training and then, if necessary, reviewed the recording upon beginning use.

- I took part in the live training and then continued at home with no issues. I recommend trying the service and asking questions when needed, says a working-age informal carer.

An older informal carer, in turn, indicates that she initially needed her daughter’s help to get started with Oima, but says that she is now happy with how Oima works.

- Now, I don’t need to stress about being able to reach the informal care customer representative by telephone. I can take care of the necessary matters at any time, even late at night, she describes.

Eva Lundsten, the office secretary for disability services in Raseborg, says that Oima also works well in Swedish.

- The language option is important because many access the services in Swedish, Lundsten says as a reminder.

Merja Tavi-Räisänen who has worked as an Oima project manager for the wellbeing services county has kept an eye on the functioning of the service. She reminds that customers can still choose whether to use the Oima service or continue with the old manual operating model.

- Not everyone has the opportunity to use an electronic device. We recommend using the Oima service due its ease of use and reliability, Tavi-Räisänen says.
