Support relationship activities for families with children
We provide systematic and goal-oriented volunteer work that promotes the wellbeing of children and young people with the help of a support person or family.
Support relationship activities are part of the family centre's family social work services. If your family has a child or young person in need of special-needs support, your child and family can receive a support person or support family. A customer relationship with child welfare services is not a prerequisite for receiving a support person. The support person will meet with your child and do activities together for approximately a couple of hours every 1 to 2 weeks. If a support family assists your family, your child will spend, for example, one weekend a month with them. Support relationship activities are systematic, guided and goal-oriented voluntary activities that promote children's and young people's well-being as well as support their growth and development. A plan for support relationship activities will be drawn up together with your family and the support person or family, and it will be reviewed at the agreed intervals. The support persons are volunteering persons of legal age who are considered suitable for the task, whose lives are in balance and who do not have a criminal record. The support persons and families have received training in support relationship activities. They are bound by an obligation of secrecy, which continues even after the work is over. Compensation and a reimbursement of costs are paid for working as a support person, but the service is free of charge for your family. The support relationship activities are intended for families with children or young people under the age of 18.
