Student welfare services in pre-primary school

Healthcare services for pre-primary school children

The maternity and child health clinics are in charge of healthcare services for children attending pre-primary school. Maternity and child health clinic services consist of regular health checks and health counselling, taking into account the needs of clients and families.

At the maternity and child health clinic, the child’s own nurse conducts the health check for six-year-old children and all necessary individual visits. The health checks for five- and six-year-olds are based on an extensive health check for children at the age of four, conducted by a nurse and a doctor.

If the guardian agrees, the nurse can participate, if necessary, in multidisciplinary network meetings concerning the child, and the assessment and planning of child-specific support measures, taking the child's health and functional capacity into account.
