The centralised medical supplies unit has started operating
From October 2023, the wellbeing services county of Western Uusimaa will start using a centralised medical supplies unit, which will improve the ordering and distribution functions offered to customers.
The Medical Supplies Unit provides medical supplies to clients for the treatment of long-term illnesses at home. Distribution follows our specific guidelines. To qualify, clients require a referral from a healthcare professional. Such referrals can be obtained from health centres or specialised medical care units, for example.
A new electronic ordering system is now in use. We recommend using our electronic order form, accessible to those with a valid referral for free medical supplies. Ordering requires strong authentication with online banking codes or a mobile certificate. If you prefer to communicate by phone, you can leave us a call-back request on weekdays from 9.00–11.00.
With the new operating model, old distribution points at health clinics will be discontinued. Instead, we will deliver medical supplies to pick-up points of Suomen Posti, parcel lockers or, in certain cases, also directly to customers at home. This makes it possible to receive medical supplies at a delivery point selected by the customer around Finland.
The centralisation of the medical supplies unit and the aforementioned changes will improve service production, increase information security and ensure equal customer service throughout the Western Uusimaa wellbeing services county.
