Digital support near you
The wellbeing services county’s customer service, local libraries, organisations and many other service providers offer free digital support across Western Uusimaa.
Digital services are developing rapidly, and it is not always easy to keep up with the changes. However, you do not have to face digital difficulties on your own.
Our customer service provides advice on using the county’s digital social welfare and healthcare services. You can receive assistance with using services such as Lunna, MyKanta and Oima, as well as with booking appointments and using strong authentication.
Do not hesitate to contact customer service even if you are unsure whether digital support is the right place to turn. If necessary, customer service will direct you to the appropriate service.
Digital support available across the wellbeing services county
Libraries, organisations and many other service providers also offer digital support. Different municipalities have their own groups and organisations providing support, including Lohjan Digiseniorit in Lohja and Senioritalo ViaDia in Nummela.
One of the organisations operating in the region is Enter ry, which offers free digital guidance for seniors throughout Uusimaa. The guidance is provided by volunteers who have been trained by Enter and are themselves seniors.
Jari Sopen-Luoma is one of Enter’s volunteers. Every other week, he provides digital guidance at libraries in Ekenäs, Karis and Pojo.
You can easily book a one-hour session through your local library. Sopen-Luoma says that you can also bring a friend with you to a digital guidance session.
People most commonly need help with their phone, tablet or computer. It is a good idea to bring your own device and its power cable with you.
“Someone once even brought along a printer,” Sopen-Luoma says with a laugh.
Guidance at your own pace
Sopen-Luoma believes that it is important for digital support to be available, as not everyone has someone close to them whom they can ask for help. Sometimes help is available, but things are explained too quickly.
“Grandchildren may show you how to do something, but they often do it so quickly that you cannot keep up,” Sopen-Luoma says.
During the guidance session, everything is explained calmly, one step at a time, so that you will be able to manage the same tasks independently in the future.
