Requesting documents or other information from the Wellbeing Services County

This page explains how you can request information and order documents from the Wellbeing Services County of Western Uusimaa.

You can most easily view your own health and wellbeing data in MyKanta, which will gradually also include information from social services. In the MyKanta service, you can also manage matters on behalf of someone else. There you can, for example, view the information of a child or an adult if you have the right to act on their behalf.

On this page, you will find instructions on how to request other information or documents from the wellbeing services county. Documents related to emergency medical services and some hospital services belong to HUS, and documents related to education and early childhood education belong to the municipalities. The Wellbeing Services County of Western Uusimaa cannot respond to requests concerning these.

How to submit a data request

We recommend submitting your data request online. The digital form guides you step by step, and processing is faster because the information is transferred directly into the system. You will need to log in using strong electronic identification.

Provide sufficient information

The Wellbeing Services County uses multiple information systems and maintains archives in several locations. Clear and detailed specification helps us locate the correct information more efficiently.
Please indicate, for example, the relevant time period and the service your request concerns.

Identity verification

Identity is verified through strong electronic identification or when visiting the Registry Office in person.
Verification is not required for requests concerning public documents.

You will receive a response within the statutory time limits

Data requests are processed according to legally mandated deadlines. If the requested information cannot be provided, you will receive a written decision explaining the reason.

If you cannot use the digital form

If electronic services are not an option, you may submit your data request by mail, through secure email (Turvaposti), or by visiting the Registry Office in person.

Send confidential or sensitive documents only through Turvaposti, never via regular email.

When submitting a request by mail or Turvaposti, include the following information:

  • Your full name and personal identity code
  • What information you are requesting and the time period concerned
  • The municipality where you received the service

Since your identity cannot be verified from mail or secure email, the response will be sent to the address listed for you in the Population Information System.

Data request on behalf of another person

You may authorise another person to submit a request on your behalf.
For lawyers, licensed legal counsels and public legal aid attorneys, an open power of attorney is sufficient.

Other authorised persons, such as family members or close relatives, must provide a power of attorney that includes the details of both the authoriser and the authorised representative, the scope of the authorisation, the date, and the authoriser’s signature.

The power of attorney must be attached to the request both when submitting it electronically and when handling the matter in person.

Fees for documents and information

Requests for personal data and documents are generally free of charge. A fee is charged only when the request is exceptionally extensive, repetitive, or requires significant additional work.

Other documents and extracts are priced according to the wellbeing services county’s price list.
