Vaccinations

We provide free and voluntary vaccines as per the national vaccination programme.

Vaccinations are an integral part of the overall prevention of communicable illnesses. In Finland, free vaccines are offered to everyone as per the national vaccination programme drawn up by the Ministry of Social Affairs and Health in cooperation with experts. The aim of the vaccination programme is to protect the entire population as well as possible against preventable illnesses. Vaccines included in the national vaccination programme for children and young people are administered at your child health clinic or in school or student health care. The booster and seasonal vaccines that adults require are administered at your health care unit. The vaccines included in the national vaccination programme are voluntary and free of charge.

If you need to extend your immunisation, e.g. for a trip abroad, a vaccination plan will be drawn up for you at the health care unit and you will be given the necessary vaccines. You must pay for the vaccines that are not included in the national vaccination programme.

Vaccines not included in the national vaccination programme that are administered due to occupational hazards are part of the occupational health care provided by the employer and are free for employees. The occupational health care provider assesses the level of immunisation necessary for the task and takes care of administering the vaccines.

Vaccinations are provided as per the national vaccination programme. In the case of other vaccinations, the recommendations for each vaccine are followed. The service is free of charge.
