The Western Uusimaa Wellbeing Services County conducts COVID-19 and influenza vaccinations in the autumn 2025 in accordance with recommendations from the Finnish Institute for Health and Welfare (THL).
Vaccination sites include health stations and child and maternity health clinics. Elderly nursing home residents receive the vaccinations at nursing homes and home care clients during a home care visit. If you live in a round-the-clock service housing unit in Disability Services, you will receive the vaccine at your unit.

Who will be offered seasonal vaccination?
Seasonal influenza vaccination is offered for free to
- pregnant individuals,
- everyone aged 65 or over,
- children under 7,
- persons at risk due to illness or treatment (THL; in Finnish),(external link)
- persons starting their compulsory or voluntary military service,
- persons who live in housing units or stay for long periods in institutional conditions, including prisons and reception centres,
- social welfare, healthcare and pharmaceutical service personnel, and
- those with close to individuals highly vulnerable to severe influenza (THL; in Finnish).(external link)
If you are not eligible for a free influenza vaccine
If you are not in a risk group or in close contact with someone who is, you can still get vaccinated at your own cost. Many employers also offer influenza vaccinations to their employees. Should you need a prescription for an influenza vaccine, you can request one at the digital clinic in Lunna. If you cannot make the request online, you can ask for the prescription by phone. Leave a callback request for your own health station and select ‘vaccinations’. Once you have received the prescription, book an appointment for the vaccination, purchase the vaccine from the pharmacy and bring it with you to your scheduled vaccination appointment.
COVID-19 vaccination – who is it for?
This autumn, the Finnish Institute for Health and Welfare (THL) recommends a booster dose of the COVID-19 vaccine to
- elderly people in nursing homes or in regular organised home care, as well as elderly people receiving informal care,
- everyone aged 75 or over,
- people of all ages with severe immunodeficiency.

- everyone aged 18 or over who have two or more diseases that increases the risk of severe coronavirus disease.

Cancelling a vaccination appointment
Please cancel your appointment by 12:00 on the working day prior to your appointment. Please note that for those aged 18 and above, a fee of EUR 56.70 will be charged for unused and uncancelled appointments.

Appointment booking for vaccinations at health centres
COVID-19 and influenza vaccinations are conducted at health centres for individuals aged 65 and older, persons at risk due to illness or treatment as well as for people of all ages with severe immunodeficiency.
You can make an appointment for a seasonal vaccination online or by phone. It is not possible to make an appointment at the patient office of the health centre. Please note that it is not possible to take care of other matters during seasonal vaccination appointments. Refer to the municipal menu for municipality-specific appointment booking instructions. Making an appointment online requires strong authentication with online banking credentials or Mobile ID.

Appointment booking for influenza vaccinations at maternity and child health clinics: under 7-year-olds and pregnant individuals
Appointment booking for influenza vaccinations at maternity and child health clinics starts on Wednesday, 1 October 2025. Vaccinations start on Wednesday, 15 October 2025.
Influenza vaccinations are conducted at all maternity and child health clinics in Western Uusimaa. Note: COVID-19 vaccinations are not conducted at maternity and child health clinics.
Appointments for influenza vaccinations at maternity and child health clinics can be booked by pregnant individuals, their family members, under 7-year-old children as well as the family members of under 6-month-old babies. Vaccination appointments are booked through the online booking system.

Influenza vaccinations in school and student health services
School nurses will provide further information about influenza vaccinations at schools through Wilma.
Appointment booking for influenza vaccinations in school and student healthcare starts on Wednesday 1 October 2025. Vaccinations are set to start after the autumn holiday on 20 October. Please note: COVID-19 vaccinations are not conducted at schools.
A free seasonal influenza vaccine in school and student healthcare is available to

Seasonal vaccinations for persons with severe immunodeficiency
Appointment booking for seasonal vaccinations for persons with severe immunodeficiency opens 17 September 2025. They will receive their vaccinations starting from 1 October 2025. Persons with severe immunodeficiency belong to the target groups for both seasonal influenza vaccinations and COVID-19 vaccinations.
Where can persons with severe immunodeficiency receive their vaccinations and how can one book an appointment?
- Health stations provide vaccinations against COVID-19 and influenza for persons aged 7 and over, and for everyone with severe immunodeficiency. You can book your appointment online, by phone or at the Lunna digital clinic.
- Children under 12 with severe immunodeficiency will be vaccinated against COVID-19 at the Tapiola and Lohja health stations. You can book your appointment by phone for the Tapiola health station or the Lohja central health station. You can also book an appointment at the digital clinic in Lunna.

Nursing home residents and clients receiving home care
Elderly nursing home residents and clients receiving home will be vaccinated on-site. It is possible to receive both the influenza vaccine and the COVID-19 vaccine during one visit. Clients in short-term round-the-clock service housing will be vaccinated, as a rule, during a home care visit or at their own health station.
No booked appointment is needed for vaccinations conducted at home or in a care home. You can find more information about vaccinations from the home care or nursing home staff.
Seasonal vaccinations for Disability Services clients
If you live in a round-the-clock housing service unit (24-hour service housing), you will be informed about seasonal vaccination in your housing unit.
Which vaccines are used?
During the influenza season 2025–2026, the vaccination programme offers:
- the injectable Vaxigrip vaccine to all age groups
- the injectable Fluad vaccine to all individuals over 85-year-olds and ove 50-year-olds individuals with severe immunodeficiency
- the Fluenz nasal spray vaccine to 2–6-year-olds.

COVID-19 vaccine:
- BioNTech-Pfizeri Comirnaty
- The Hipra Bimervax vaccine is also available. It is primarily recommended for individuals who cannot take the Comirnaty vaccine due to severe allergies or other medical reasons. The Bimervax vaccine is intended for those aged 12 and older. If you want the vaccine, you need to book a vaccination appointment by phone. When you book the appointment, remember to mention that you want the Bimervax vaccine.
