Occupational therapy for adults

Occupational therapy for adults helps you when your functional capacity has changed due to an illness, disability or injury and you have difficulty coping with your everyday life. The objective of occupational therapy is to support your functional capacity and your ability to cope as independently as possible in everyday activities that are meaningful to you, regardless of your functional limitations.

You can book an appointment for occupational therapy services yourself or through a referral from a social welfare and health care professional without a referral from a physician. You still always need to book an appointment. You can book an appointment for occupational therapy by contacting us.

Based on the individual assessment, we will define the objectives of rehabilitation with you and plan the methods for the implementation of occupational therapy. Occupational therapy includes assessments of functional capacity, guidance and advice, assessment of the need for assistive devices and adjustments to your dwelling, and implementation of therapy periods. We offer occupational therapy at in-person appointments, video appointments and/or home visits.

If the therapist estimates that your rehabilitation requires a medical assessment, we can refer you to a physician at your local health centre. If necessary, we will require a referral from a health centre physician to assess your need for rehabilitation.

When the rehabilitation responsibility lies with another party, such as the Social Insurance Institution of Finland (KELA), the rehabilitation provided by KELA may not be supplemented by primary health care rehabilitation.

The service is mainly subject to a fee for people over the age of 18.
