AI Development
The Western Uusimaa Wellbeing Services County is leading the way in integrating artificial intelligence (AI) into social and healthcare services. Our primary goal with AI is to reduce staff workloads. We have taken bold steps experimenting with artificial intelligence (AI) to enhance everyday life. In the future, AI may become a beneficial tool in nearly every aspect of our operations.
AI Program of the Western Uusimaa Wellbeing Services County
To guide our AI development from 2024 to 2026, we've established an AI Program—a detailed plan outlining how and where we aim to harness AI's new opportunities. To create this program, we have conducted comprehensive internal background work on what we want from AI and what opportunities it can bring. In its content, the program has many similarities with national strategies and discussions on AI utilization in social, healthcare, and rescue services. The AI program facilitates our service strategy goals and is part of our Digital Roadmap.
The AI program defines four areas of focus for the upcoming years: multilingualism, reducing paperwork of social and healthcare professionals, client guidance, and everyday enhancements. Planned applications include translation and interpreting tools, client and patient information system documentation, and streamlining administrative work.
To date, we have successfully implemented an AI-powered translation tool and a content analysis tool for processing text. In addition, Microsoft Copilot has been available to all employees since spring 2024.

We are also piloting AI to assist doctors with documentation at our health stations. In collaboration with Gosta Labs Oy, an Espoo-based company, we're developing an application that reduces paperwork, allowing doctors more time with patients. Preliminary results are promising. (
