Client and patient safety is an essential aspect of service and care quality. We continuously strive to improve the quality of our operations in various ways, such as by standardising our practices, ensuring staff competence, and learning from safety mistakes. Our clients and their loved ones play an important role in this development.

The Western Uusimaa Wellbeing Services County has a notification system for reporting safety incidents. Through the system, clients, patients, or their loved ones can report a safety incident that has occurred while receiving care or service.

A safety incident refers to an incident that endangers patient safety, either by causing harm to the patient or exposing them to potential harm. An example of a safety incident could be a near-miss situation where the danger was noticed in time and harm was prevented from occurring. An adverse event is a safety incident that causes harm to the client.

The report is submitted anonymously. No response will be given. You can access the safety incident notification form by clicking here(external link).  The feedback is used to improve the safety of services to prevent similar incidents from happening again. A safety incident notification does not replace an objection. If you wish to receive a response to your feedback, you must submit an objection.

You can also give feedback directly to the unit in question, either orally or in writing. If you are dissatisfied with the service, care, or treatment you have received, you can submit an objection either as a free-form letter, through a complaint form, or orally in special circumstances. The Social and Patient Ombudspersons will advise you if needed.
