Family rehabilitation

We provide strong and comprehensive support that aims to achieve change, either through a round-the-clock service or in groups.

Family rehabilitation is a child welfare service, which can be provided to families with children that need strong, change-focused and comprehensive support. The family may have difficulties in committing to other systematic work. Round-the-clock family rehabilitation outside the home is suitable for families with severe problems related to · parenting · management of daily activities · interaction relationships · the child having symptoms · the parents' coping · intoxicants · mental health which cannot be addressed with support at home. The parent must be able to be responsible for the child's care, and family rehabilitation is not suitable, for example, for parents who acutely use intoxicants or who have very severe mental problems. During the round-the-clock family rehabilitation, it is possible to practise new kinds of skills, in addition to which the child's and family's situation can be closely monitored. During family rehabilitation, the family is provided with rehabilitative activities in a systematic and goal-oriented manner. The family and social worker will agree on more specific goals together. The cornerstones of the entire family rehabilitation are supporting interaction between family members with functional methods, practising everyday skills as well as establishing a regular daily rhythm. Family rehabilitation can also be provided in a group so that the family lives at home, but participates in group activities as well as receives support at home. Intensive family work can also be carried out in accordance with the goals of family rehabilitation. The entire family usually participates in the family rehabilitation. Family rehabilitation is also provided to pregnant women if there is a concern involving the future parents' prerequisites to take care of the child-to-be. The concern may, for example, involve a parent using intoxicants. Family rehabilitation has been considered suitable for situations where there is a risk of the child being placed outside the home, but the family is motivated to take part in family rehabilitation. Participation in family rehabilitation is voluntary. Family rehabilitation is part of the family centre's services, which include child welfare. The family centre refers to a set of services where your family can find services that promote the well-being, health, growth and development as well as early support, care and rehabilitation services and special services for children, young people and families.
